CLIENT TESTIMONIAL

"My win is 'finding a fun new way to exercise'. There really are no excuses/limitations. It’s true. Yes the gym is closed. Yes I have very little space. I have very limited access to equipment / weights. But I can do this program anytime, anywhere - In fact, I smashed one out at the office today. And I feel so fit right now and it’s only been a week. That’s a couple of wins in there hey ?! Thank you so much Sarah Houston!"

Who Am I?

A Mummy Who Cares

Hi Mumma’s,

My name is Sarah Houston and I’m a mummy of 2 beautiful boys, ages 4 and 1 years old and also a certified Personal Trainer. Being an older mum, aged 43, I have experienced the toll that pregnancy and childbirth has on your body. I’ve always enjoyed exercising but found after having children I had no time or energy to focus on me and as i'm sure you know, as a mum, all you really want and need is peace and quiet and lots of sleep!! After my youngest child was born in August 2020, I was determined to lose the extra kilos that i'd gained from the baby weight as well as to build my strength and confidence back up again.

I began to realise how challenging this was, knowing that I now had zero time to myself, between trying to do the shopping, all of the household chores, entertaining a 4 year old, and all whilst trying to keep a newborn alive at the same time!

As I had previously worked as a Personal Trainer, I decided that I wanted to re-enter the Health and Fitness industry, so I could specifically help mumma’s change their understanding of diet and exercise so that you can begin to easily incorporate some exercise and healthy eating habits into your lifestyle, in order to get positive and long term results, therefore empowering you to live a better healthier life to ensure your'll have the energy and stamina to be able to keep up with the kids and be around for your grandkids!

With healthy eating guidance and a realistic workout schedule, your weight loss goals are actually closer than you think and will be realistically obtainable for the long term.

As i'm sure you are aware, anyone can offer an 8 week training or diet challenge telling you that YOU MUST undertake 7 hours of exercise a week and eat 1200cals a day in order for you to lose weight. Of course you would most definitely lose weight, but is it sustainable for the long term? Will you realistically be able to maintain this extreme regime and successfully transition this into your routine, on a daily basis, for the rest of your life? In my experience, both as a Personal Trainer and as a mum, this type of approach is simply not sustainable for the long term and as soon as you go back to eating normally again, i.e. more than 1200cals a day and exercising less than 7 hours a week, those little old habits will slowly start to creep back in again and all that sacrifice and hard work you have done, will be lost as you find yourself starting to put the weight back on again! This is why "Yo-yo and Fad" dieting do not allow you to achieve your goals, yes, you may see dramatic short term results but fad diets and extreme exercise plans are simply not sustainable for the long term.

What I have tried to do with MMPT, is create an easy to follow, realistic and sustainable, healthy habits and exercise plan that can be easily implemented into your daily life, that anyone can do from the comfort of their own home with no equipment required! The goal of MMPT is to "Lose weight and keep it off for good!". So come with me on this journey together and say NO to yo-yo. Your goals are obtainable, you just need a little help getting there.

In my personal opinion, based on the experience that I have seen while working as a Personal Trainer, is that weight loss is approximately 70% what you eat and only 30% exercise. The first thing YOU MUST DO is track and monitor everything you are eating to get an understanding of how many calories are in the foods you are consuming so that you become aware of your daily calorie intake.

I'm also a big believer in using the 80/20 rule, be good 80% of the time to allow yourself the pleasure of doing what you want for 20% of the time. This way, you can have the pizza, chips and chocolate and indulge in a glass of wine if you like too! As long as its only 20% of the time and you follow a strict healthy eating plan 80% of the time. This gives you the wriggle room for having a date night with your partner once a week, or if you have a wedding or birthday to attend, use your 20% for that week so that you can have fun and enjoy yourself at those events.

Your Success Is My Goal

I understand that adapting to a new exercise and healthy eating plan, as well as keeping on track is difficult, however, my goal is to change your view on fitness and diet and make it easy for you to change your lifestyle in order to reach your goals. I sincerely believe that if you consistently practice healthy habits, you will be able to obtain your desired results and maintain a healthy lifestyle moving forward.

I know how daunting it is to set foot outside of the comfort of your own home and how difficult it is to build up the courage to join a gym or get started with a new exercise program. Whether you have trained before or are completely new to fitness and exercise, I can help you!

MMPT is personal training for mums, offering at home mum workouts or customised programs designed specifically for you with your needs/goals in mind. If you have gym equipment at home, I can create a program incorporating any equipment you may have on hand!

With a safe, friendly, fun and affordable approach to fitness, within a relaxed, non intimidating environment to allow you to gently ease back into exercise with no judgement or hard sell Personal Training techniques.

Enjoy exercising at your own pace, with the guidance of someone who is also a mummy, giving me the understanding, empathy and compassion needed to motivate and guide you in the right direction, so that you can regain your sparkle, get your energy and confidence back and start to feel good about yourself again! Get those endorphins flowing and feel the benefits of exercise.
